I found this program just few weeks ago, but it's great! Definitely the best audio player! It's only beta, but it's less buggy than Winamp 5.5 final.

I can't see few useful features in the list:

- Playlist tabs
- Quick search
- Sound recorder

There are just few skins on the homepage, so here is a pack of most AIMP2 skins (I have had some problems - freezing with some skins, so I have excluded them from the pack, it's probably Russian font issue, but I'm not sure):

AIMP2 Skins (6.34MB)

Note: Not all skins offer all the new AIMP2 features (i.e. playlist tabs, quick search...).

Aaah... you guys haven't tried MediaMonkey. The new beta looks amazing, but the old version rocks too. No plugins needed for many formats (like FLAC, APE etc).

I tried Winamp, Foobar2000, Mediamonkey and other audio players, of course, but...

Mediamonkey is more a music organizer, than audio player, it's also a limited shareware, Winamp is kind of shareware too, also a 'bloatware' - with many ugly bugs in the final version (5.5), Foobar2000 is perhaps good for professionals, but skin support is missing, it's not very user friendly / easy to use / intuitive, definitely not for the normal users, especially not for the former Winamp users.

AIMP is:

- completely free
- intuitive
- easy to use
- with lots of great features - missing in other players
- fully customizable - not only skins, plugins, shortcuts, global shortcut, but there are so many small, but useful features I was waiting for while using Winamp
- low memory usage
...

Therefore it's the best audio player for me.

...And remember, AIMP2 is still only beta!

BTW memory usage of these audio players:

Mediamonkey: 23 860 K
Winamp: 23 756 K
Foobar2000: 15 800 K
AIMP2: 5 888 K

At least with WinAmp is annoying, when browsing music files with "All supported types", the WinAmp ignores mod (and related) music files, even it plays them.

Maybe I should test AIMP, for example, if the memory usage is that low, that may mean more efficient program..?

Unless it does Kernel Streaming (I can't use ASIO with Realtek HD codecs) I'm not interested.

Winamp has always been my #1 choice (until recently), because there are plugins to allow it to play almost any media format you can find. I haven't been able to find anything else that matches it's functionality, until pretty recently.

Enter, The KMPlayer: http://www.kmplayer.com/forums/index.php (download link is at the top of the forum).
Freeware, light on resources, plays almost anything (both audio & video) without any external codecs, can use external codecs & directshow filters for the very few formats it doesn't support natively, or if you like the way some external codec works better than the way the built in one does. You can even prioritize the codecs & directshow filters, so that it will try one first, and fall back to a different one if that one fails. It comes packed with quite a few skins, and it even supports winamp plugins for added features. It can take some time to figure out all the various options & features it has, but it's very easy to use right out of the box (you don't -need- to tinker with all those options, the default settings work just fine).

But AIMP2 can use plugins too for expanding program function nad playing more formats like WinAmp ;)
