Help with setting associations

Post by NormanW »

I am trying to view thumbnail views of CorelDRAW and CorelPAINT files in particular (.cdr .cpt). I tried XnView MP but when It didn't work, I deleted and installed Classic. It still doesn't work.

I am using a Windows 10 Desktop system, Version 10.0.19044 . I open XnView as an administrator, then Tools> Options> Associations> I can see the list of association but can't tick the box. The Windows File associations button opens a green box saying "To change your default apps, go to Settings> Apps> Default Apps. But there is no options for thumbnails.

There is a quote on another thread saying:

In Settings> Apps & Features> I do not have an option to change thumbnail settings only the opening application? Please can someone be more specific about EXACTLY what setting in Windows I am looking for to change so that I can see the .CDR (CorelDraw) thumbnails?
You do not have the required permissions to view the files attached to this post.

You have a problem to open cdr/cpt in XnView, not file associations.
Old format of cdr/cpt can only be loaded....

Yes, that is correct, these are the old format corel draw files.

XNView does not show cdr files going back to 2005.
