GIF looping stops Quick Slideshow (2.32)

It looks like this issue was accidentially introduced to the standard slideshow (.sld file) functionality in 2.49. If a slideshow plays an animated GIF file with the "GIF loop" option enabled, it loops indefinitely. I tested rolling back to 2.48 and GIFs were functioning normally (just looping up to the time limit, then advancing), so the issue is most likely related to one of the two slideshow GIF changes in 2.49.

I am experiencing this issue now as well, having just upgraded from 2.48 to 2.49.1. Should I downgrade, or stick with it assuming a fix is coming soon?
