Re: Removing cross that allows closing folder/ favorites windows
To fix it you should drag favorites window to a side of a screen and it will dock.
Interesting; I'm running XnView on my Win PC, my Mac, and the Win version on my Mac in a 'wine bottle' (I'm doing some testing ... trying to decide if I can migrate from Win to Mac, and being able to use XnView ...

Re: Removing cross that allows closing folder/ favorites windows
I wasn't familiar with the icons you mentioned, but I was intrigued so I took a look. I was able to achieve what I THINK you want by going to View / Panels / Show Title of Panels (deselect this item). By doing this, the 'heading row' disappears completely, along with the 'x' and the other icon. This ...

Re: Keyboard Shortcuts, Cmd-C in particular
Ctrl+C copy Image content & filename
I just opened a jpg file with XnView on the Mac, then used 'Ctrl+C', then pasted into a word document. The image content was copied/pasted to word. I then used 'Cmd+C', and got the exact same result. In what way is 'filename' involved or used? (I also tried ...

Re: Problem installing 1.9.2 in windows - shell extension issue
Bonjour!
But I just ran into the problem while installing 1.9.2, so what do you mean by "no more as default in 1.9.2 setup"? That makes it sound like it should no longer happen.

Problem installing 1.9.2 in windows - shell extension issue
I just installed XnView MP 1.9.2 x64 on windows 11. During the install, the installer reports that explorer is running. You can choose to 'shut down' explorer, or 'ignore (not recommended)'. This is the exact same issue I ran into when installing XnView 1.8.7, and also 1.8.3 - reported in this forum ...

Keyboard Shortcuts, Cmd-C in particular
I notice that the keyboard shortcut for Edit / Copy to Clipboard / Image Content is 'Ctrl-Shift-C'. That's not easy for me to remember. But the 'universal standard' for 'copy' is 'Cmd-C' and ... it seems to work for me just like Ctrl-Shift-C. So is there any difference between the two?

I'm new to XnView, trying to find a replacement for IrfanView on Mac.

Re: How To Add Borders
For anyone finding this topic hoping to learn how to add a simple border to an image from the clipboard (like a screenshot), you can simply use 'Effect' / 'Effect ...' / (misc section) - Border. This will allow you to add up to 4 borders, any color. Awesome!

Problem installing 1.8.7
I just tried to upgrade from 1.8.3 to 1.8.7. The installation got stuck trying to install the shell extension. I'm on windows 11 home, latest version.
This is the exact same problem I encountered and reported with 1.8.3 in this post - https://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?t=48115&sid ...

Re: XnView MP 1.8.3
I just tried to install, bui 'failed' (or so it said - I seem to have 1.8.3 despite all the problems).
I had recently installed 1.8.2.0 for the first time on my Win 11 Laptop. Installation completed without issue and it ran fine.
Today I ran XnView and got a message about a new version, so I ...

Re: Not understanding 'blur' effect
Thanks. So even at a setting of 82% in your example, the 'blur' is very subtle. I guess that's the design intent - a very subtle blur? I'm looking for a setting (or tool) to completely obfuscate the words, as in this example:

Not understanding 'blur' effect
I have a photo of a page of text. I want to blur out some sensitive words. I use the following procedure, based on experience from other tools. Nothing happens. Am I missing something??
1) select the text area I want to blur (click and drag to create the selection box)

Re: Too small fonts not only on 4k (150% or 175% scaling). How to make bigger fonts?
What is the physical size of your 4k monitor? Is it a 27" monitor, a 42" monitor, etc? This would be the diagonal measurement, corner to corner. I'm working right now on my built-in laptop screen which is 17". It's the combination of 'resolution' (your '4k' terminology, or my '2560x1600' terminology ...

Use of keyboard shortcuts
I'm new to XnView MP (looking to see if I can find an alternative to IrfanView, to ease a possible migration to Mac :) ). It's got a LOT of the features I really need and is the closest thing I've found yet to the beloved IrfanView. Well done and thanks for creating a great tool.

Re: Too smal fonts not only on 4k (150% or 175% scaling). How to make bigger fonts?
I've just started using XnView on a 2560x1600 screen, with 150% scaling, (windows 11) and the display is just tolerable, so I sympathize with you. I'm going to follow this thread with interest.
