Am running dual system: Cinnamon & Windows
My PC's hardware:
Desktop machine, Acer Aspire T3 715
CPU Intel Core i5-6400
DDR4-SDRAM 16GB 2133MHz DDR4-SDRAM
GPU NVIDIA GeForce GTX 950
SSD C-drive 128GB running Windows 10 home 64b 22H2 & Photoshop.U
HDD 1. D-drive, 3.5" SATA3 HDD 7200rpm 1.0TB, stores all photos.
HDD 2. 2.5" SATA3 Seagate Momentus 5400rpm 120gb running Cinnamon 21.1
What happened:
1.Ran Pix on Cinnamon 22.1 .
2.Opened a Jpeg image file in Pix.
3.Deleted the EXIF metadata. The image file disappeared.
4.Tried to open the same image file again, the file disappeared as a flash.
5.Tried again, all the image files in the folder disappeared.
6.Tried again, both Pix and the folder disappeared.
All the problems started from deleting the metadata.
How I operate on the dual system:
1.Use Windows for ONLY processing photos.
2.Use Cinnamon for all the other tasks.
Notes:
A.This is the first time I touch Pix and I might have done something wrong causing the issue.
B. Pix on Cinnamon still opens other folders and file and provides all the functions and services.
C.The folder and all the photo files in there are still good and can be opened and viewed by other software, Image Viewer, for example.
D.I will post Cinnamon system report if require.
How to solve the issue and use Pix normally in Cinnamon, please?
Thanks.
Kuen
Pix on Cinnamon 22.1 does not open the same folder second time.

Which XnView MP version do you have installed, although I haven't been following other recent posts closely, I think the issue you are experiencing may possibly result from a bug in a recent XnView MP version and be unrelated to your dual-booting with Linux.

Thank you.cday wrote: Fri Apr 11, 2025 7:52 am Which XnView MP version do you have installed, although I haven't been following other recent posts closely, I think the issue you are experiencing may possibly result from a bug in a recent XnView MP version and be unrelated to your dual-booting with Linux.
"Which XnView MP version do you have installed,"
1. The Pix is within Cinnamon 22.1, not I installed.
2. I tried it, the first time to try it, in Cinnamon 22.1.
3. I installed XnView MP onto my Windows system yesterday, but the Pix issue happened 4 or 5 days ago, many days before I installed XnView MP.
"a bug in a recent XnView MP version"
1. If it were a bug, the bug is not new or has anything to do with the new XnView MP version because the Pix is on Linux Mint 22.1 Cinnamon, and Mint 22.1 has been released for a long time, long enough for bugs to be found.
2. Yet, it could very well be bug. I am not in any position to say it is or it is not.
Appreciate your reply very much.
