What is "category search" supposed to do?

What is "category search" supposed to do?

What is "category search" supposed to do?
When I tried it, all it did was to permanently ruin the colour of selections.
I'd be curious to know, what it is actually meant to do.

Why didn't you ask that, in Dark selection colour?
Anyway, it's this thing, I've marked in this screenshot (from what I termed computer B, in the above mentioned thread, so that it is readable)

it's to search a category or add one new, and apply it to selection
