B1: Too many sub-categories?

I think these sub-categories are very confusing, we should remove sub-categories here:

Options > Thumbnail > Appearance / Labels

I suggest this:

Options > Thumbnails
Options > Thumbnail Appearance
Options > Thumbnail Labels

"Thumbnails" and "Thumbnail > Appearance" could be merged to "Thumbnails" (some options could be moved...):

Options > Thumbnails
Options > Thumbnail Labels

What do you think?

'Thumbnail Appearance' is too long for the list of option

Therefore my other suggestion above.

If not possible, another name for 'Thumbnail Appearance' should be find, it looks really confusing...

What is the problem with the sub-categories? The subcategories are opened by default, so you don't even have any extra click.

I agree with Dreamer: my little head has too much trouble to keep track with this 3 levels structure... :?
(and I fear it's too late to ask for a 'brain upgrade' from my Dad&Mum... )

Olivier
PS: maybe I should sue them for that... :?:

I think it's too complicated...

Simple is clear, complicated is NOT clear.

Of course, it's not a big problem but...

I think:
2 levels are a bit complicated but OK
3 levels are too complicated for novice users

I have another idea, but not for this version, "show only basic options" option, maybe even enabled by default, advanced options would be disabled then. Just to help novice users.

Dreamer, frankly speaking a novice user should not even display Options window.
I've studied the Options for some time and still I have doubts about what some of them do. Many require good understanding of how XnView works. Help AFAIR does not cover even all basics and is seriuosly outdated. It does not contain descriptions of any Options.

And You see problem that the tree has 3 levels?????? Oh, gimme a break! If you want make XnView more user friendly, volunteer yourself for complete redesign of Options window. Or maybe menu descriptions, or dialog windows options' descriptions? Or....

EDIT: I know- design Novice mode for XnView. What menu items and Options should be hidden, what should be default values for all options, etc. It should keep you busy for, well, some time
