Trying to open an xbs file

Post by xbox »

I am trying to break down an original xbox file and it uses .xbs files for images. Can anybody let me know how to open this file using XnView?

I don't have any detailed knowledge of .xbs files, but as in XnView software they are only used to save batch conversion settings as a script that can be reloaded later to reuse the same settings, it seems unlikely that this software has any relevance to what you wish to do.

An Internet search would be the way to go if you haven't already exhausted that possibility, or you might try posting on one of the specialist programming and software support forums where someone might have relevant knowledge. Looking on the Internet, .xbs is uniformly described as an XnView scripting format, so possibly the .xbs files you are referring to were an earlier proprietary format?

Maybe someone reading the thread will be able to offer some advice, but as very few users post even on directly relevant topics that seems unlikely!

Edit:

If you are sure the files you are referring to are image files and are able to upload an example file, Pierre might be interested in having a quick look at one if he has time.

XnView Batch Scripts are (small) text files with a .xbs file name extension.

Opening the binary file you provided (10_00.XBS) with a hex editor reveals that it starts with BIBG. This indicates that we are dealing with an archive used in video games like Catwoman. The archive seems to contain several files named stewie*.wav which leads me to believe that it stems from the (Xbox version of) Family Guy Video Game.

This archive file format is not supported by XnView.
