Better looking icon for XnView?

Post by TsunamiZ »

Can we have a better looking icon for the free XnView? The current one looks old school. Thanks.

Look if you can make a better one by all means post it here and we'll consider it, otherwise the old one stays as is.

Well, the Deluxe version has a better icon. Why not just that one?

Thats easy, XnView Deluxe will always look better, it needs to have an edge over the freeware version.
Remember, it's shareware and the author needs money somehow.

And that is only your opinion

Are you talking of the toolbar of XnView 1.80 or the old toolbar of XnView 1.74?
There's various toolbar skins available, e.g, Mezich, see FAQ How to change XnView's look.

I'm talking about the main program icon.

Ehem, right. The program icon of XnView DeLuxe has been designed by professional designers and can be used in XnView DeLuxe context, only.

I agree, but it's a known "problem" and XnView can't use XnView Deluxe icon (I guess).

While I agree that xnview could use a better icon, I don't care for xnview deluxe's icon. The rainbow "eyelashes" on it just detract from it, making it look more childish than professional.

Edit: I just tried my hand at making some new icons:

...and some full-sized logos:

i have a different opinion: keep the current icon.

i like it and i'm against it's restyling.

Perhaps i can use 2 icons, and you choose one?

Providing several icons in the executable is a good idea. But you will need a good designer to create a new icon.

Some programs include the icon as part of the skins, I don't know if that could be done with xnview or not.
