Syncing EXIF and IPTC Data lines
Hi: How can I copy the contents of EXIF 'Image Description' lines in 600 photos to the 'Caption' lines in their IPTC data sections? These photo files come from my iPad and have Metadata that were edited there (alas, I now come to find out that the app uses EXIF Metadata...). I'm finding that XnviewMP is not showing the EXIF 'Image Description' lines. Thanks - I hope there is a solution somewhere (I did discover that Xnview will allow me to assign EXIF data to Slideshows).

Hi,
Select a photo for test
Use "Tools, Metadata, Transfer"
Add a target field (Iptc Caption)
look for source field (Exif , Image, description ?)
Apply.
Check if the method gives a good result (see information pane, IPTC tab )
Select a set of photos and apply ...
If fields names are not the ones you need, look at "exiftool" tab in info pane, maybe you will find the good one ...

Re: Syncing EXIF and IPTC Data lines
Thank you so much.
I was not aware we had such a feature and would not have known what to do with it if I tried.
I followed your instructions and made a few practice runs.
This is going to be very handy.
