Feature Request: Delete repeated columns and lines

Post by sd_snatcher »

Images scaled up with the nearest neighbour algorithm can be restored if the repeated (duplicated, triplicated, etc) columns and lines are removed.

Yes, this will also remove empty areas of some images, but it's much less work to restore these areas manually than to find/delete all the duplicated lines/columns. Blindly scaling down with a different line elimination algorithm won't work because in the majority of times it won't pick the same lines/columns that the algorithm that scaled the image used.

Scaling images with the nearest neighbour was very common in the 80s and 90s. I attached here a sample of such an image. It originally had a 512x212 resolution, and was scaled to 576x400.
