Compression of GeoTIFF - data destruction or not?

I have some TIF, uncompressed, realized by XnConvert as GeoTIFF. The new "save as TIF - CCITT4" creates a new, small file without messages or alerts - but after reloading XnConvert tells me only "TIF file", no more GeoTIFF. Is the Geo-data destroyed?

So please add an option or a message to handle this situation:

Message / Dialogue:
"You want to modify a GeoTIFF which will result in lost of data. What to you want to do:
a) Continue this
b) Continue all GeoTIFF
c) Skip this
d) Skip all GeoTIFF"

Hi Pierre

is this topic on your list / on your focus, or does it have less priority?

version 1.40 of XnViewMp shows the files and the metadata very fine, but when I save it as "LZW compressed TIFF" the Geodata are lost.

Is there a way to keep them?

Edit:
maybe these tools can help / can be integrated?
