Description
English: Enhanced version by the Swiss, Helmut Gersheim (1913-1995) performed ca. 1952 of Niépce's View from the Window at Le Gras, (Harry Ransom Humanities Research Center, University of Texas, Austin) the first successful permanent photograph created by Nicéphore Niépce in 1826 or 1827, in Saint-Loup-de-Varennes. Captured on 20 × 25 cm oil-treated bitumen. Due to the 8-hour exposure, the buildings are illuminated by the sun from both right and left.

Français : Point de vue du Gras (1826 ou 1827), le premier résultat d'une expérience de Joseph Nicéphore Niépce. Vue de la fenêtre du domaine du Gras, à Saint-Loup-de-Varennes. Première photographie permanente jamais réalisée, sur bitume de Judée. Cette photographie représente une partie de la propriété de Niépce. Le soleil a éclairé le mur de droite puis celui de gauche plus tard dans la journée, la pose ayant duré 8 heures.
