Resizing in XnConvert and XnViewMP

Hi,

If I resize a picture by 50% then I get half the size of the original and this is correct :)

However my concern is when I resize by anything between 51% to 100% then it resizes nearer to the original picture size WHEREAS if I resize anywhere between 1% to 49% it resizes further away from the original size. Sometimes I feel that XnView has got it the other way round i this.

I can understand why it is like this in XnView software as it can be explained that:

for example; In XnView's resize of a picture using 70%, I currently observe it as doing 70% towards the original size and rather not 70% size subtracted from the original size.

Does this need clarifying further?

Resize to a percentage of the original size seems natural to me: 50% halves the pixel dimensions and 200% doubles them...

A 1000px x 1000px image resized by 50% would be 500px x 500px, resized by 200% would be 2000px x 2000px, and resized by 90% would be 900px x 900px.

I think the confusion arises from the use of TO and BY...

In my earlier post I started by saying that rescaling TO a percentage of the original pixel dimensions seemed natural, and then went on to refer to rescaling BY various percentages.

In fact neither XnView nor XnView MP actually use TO or BY in the rescaling interface...

So we rescale TO a percentage of the original size, but sometimes refer to that as rescaling BY that percentage?
