I don't get any skin options other than the default. Running on windows 98 se. No other irregularities, so far. Is this normal?

@mhguda:
That are 2 items IMO, so I modified the quote. :wink:

No, it's not normal! Unfortunately I can't help exactly, because of other OS.

- There were problems with RC1 because of missing xnview.exe.manifest, but this file is included in RC2, so the problems should be fixed. Do you use RC2?

- Just a hint, which helps in several cases: Rename your xnview.ini to xnview.ini.bak. Now restart xnView and be surprised.

Do you use the EXE installer or ZIP file?

If you want I can make you a special WinRAR SFX installer just for the skins.

No problem on Windows 98SE, here.

There should be a folder "skins" in the directory of XnView with other folders in it. If that one is missing, the problem lies in unpacking the archive. Then, you should remove the whole XnView directory and unpack it again having the option to unpack with subdirectories activated.

I have tried the ini file trick and was not surprised by suddenly appearing skin options. Nothing changed.
I do have the skins folder, with subfolders for each skin.
In fact, I have kept version 1.7.4 and that works fine, with skins on option.
Could it be a problem that I have both versions on my system?
(But I have not made the install option to keep the ini file in the windows folder, or the options in the registry, precisely because of the two versions residing on my system).
I have also tried installing RC3. That did not help.

For all other people this works o.k. and there is no feedback from mhguda, so I close this problem.
