Mixed thumbnails + details view

A option to display directories in detail view (at the top) and at the same time images as thumbnails (below) would be very useful I think. Essentially a possibility of mixed thumbnail + details view.
The effect for me would be easier overall navigation, since I tend to focus on folder names.

Did you play with the different options in View » Layout?

He wants "to display directories in detail view (at the top) and at the same time images as thumbnails (below)" - I think this is not possible.

Exactly as Dreamer said. Yes I played around with all the nice options. Currently I use thumbnail mode and thats working for me.
The idea behind my request, Id like just to focus just on the images. My folders are all named, looking at folder thumbnails takes longer for me to navigate. (I know I could turn off image caching for folders and switch to icon view, but then the icons are taking as much space as the big folders) So, for me the feature would mean better readability = faster navigating.

I think all file managers (XnView included) should have a mode that divides a folder view into two scrollable sections with a moveable divider. One section would show folders only, the other section would show files only.
I'd love this!

Hi JohnFredC,
I dont like the idea of separeate areas for dirs and files *in this context*. I want "to display directories in detail view (at the top) and at the same time images as thumbnails (below)". My reason to have them in the same view is because I want to do folder + file navigation in the same list. 2 separate lists ---> not able to navigate them with keyboard only. So splitviews are certainly handy, but another issue. This topic deals with the behaviour of just one view.

I also doubt that this is technically possible with the widgets provided by Windows. But only Pierre can say.
