1.91.6: On many popups: "Apply to image"

If "Apply to image" is checked, the effect(s) can be seen on image too and that's good.

But removing the mark from "Apply to image" leaves the effect on image, until selecting "Cancel".

Should the effect be removed from image, when I unselect "Apply to image" too?

:) Hello !

• This has been reported and discussed a while ago… (Mr. Librarian, please ?)

- Indeed the current behaviour is neither logical, nor handy,
hence I support a change for removing the effect from the preview when the box is getting unticked.

:) Again…

• Well, I checked in 1.91.6, there is not the old bug you notice with *.PNG files.
- When I untick the box, the effect is removed from the view immediately.
- With which type of image do you get the issue ?

Hmm, I checked quickly with brightness/contrast with *.jpg and there's removing "Apply to image" selection restores the view of image correctly.

But recently I really had the problem with images on some effect, which effect might be something else than that brightness and contrast.

I have been testing XnView as well as I have been rechecking the finnish translation to find ones, which could be translated better. When I had problem with features, I have written them down for reporting.

Now I have to find again exactly, in which case I successfully could redo the problem, with which files or effects...

Coming back soon. :)

Could reproduce it already at least with the following case, I try to redo this from zero as well as writing this post.

Every exact actions to be sure of this:

-Open XnView
-Closed "Tip of the day", which opens
-Browser: Find a *.bmp file and double click it to open it
-Select: "Image", "Rotate","Custom..."

"Rotate"-popup appears:

-There's "0.00" as default value.
-Background color is black
-"Smooth" is selected
-"Auto crop" is unselected
-"Apply to image" is unselected

Next actions:

-I change the value to "40"
-I select "Apply to image" ->Image rotates 40 degrees
-I unselect "Apply to image"

And what happens: There's the image stays rotated!

I tried also with *.png and *.jpg and could reproduce this.

Could you reproduce this now? :)

No preview---

:) Hi again !
…-Select: "Image", "Rotate","Custom..." …
• Yes, it occurs with that function, and also with “Sepia” (maybe others, I didn't test very far).

• However, we were not talking of the same group of effects.
The image restoration works alright with the Filter Menu >> Effects functions,
where the dialogue-boxes have a dual preview («Before» - «After»),
while there are not such previews in the case you report, nor with “Sepia” either.

• I hope that Pierre can fix that, maybe adding previews to these dialogue-boxes too ?

Hi! :)

Oh yes, on my first post I didn't make exact steps, sorry! :D

But I have been checking the translations just in that "Image"-menu and how they fit in place and as well quickly making some note somewhere. I have to do those notes more exactly in future. :)

:) It's good to discover “the bone in the cheese” finally (French sentence…).

[Aside]
• About the languages improvements, you could have a look¦revive THAT BIG THREAD
which needs a push to the top in the Pierre's ToDo list…
