I have figured it out now.

I was trying to load a template that was created using XnView 1.98. So I click on Load Template button in Edit IPTC/XMP but no dialogue box was opened.

I just realised that, unlike XnView, XnView MP's Load Template will not open a browsing window for selecting the template file. A template has to be created using Save Template first, i.e. at least one template has to be existed.

To use the template I have created in XnView, I have to copy it to C:\Documents and Settings\[user account]\Application Data\XnViewMP (for Windows XP) or other folder location which is defined in Tools > Settings > Integration > Folder used for other files. After the template file is copied to the folder, clicking Load Template will open a window with a template selection list.

After copying the XnView's template file to the designated folder in XnView MP, and renaming the file extension from .ipt to .iptc, I can see it in the drop down list after clicking Load Template button. However, no data is applied to the fields after selecting it.

So can template created in XnView be used in XnView MP?
