Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
hi,
I will explain, in XnView MP v0.33 I am in the Browser mode and I have 1 other image viewer tab opened (so 2 tabs in total on interface). The Browser tab is the active one that I'm in and the image viewer tab is the inactive tab with either a file or <empty>.
I want to be able to Drag'n'Drop files, image files, from my desktop to the inactive viewer tab for that tab to become activated and open just like what is easily possible in many tabbed file-managers like Xyplorer - it's process of draging n dropping files between tabs of folders and the tabs becoming active on moving the cursor drop.
Support for:
1. Drag'n'Drop from Win Explorer/native OS --> to any tabs
2. Drag'n'Drop from Browser too (any file) --> to any viewer tabs
Feature shouldn't be too hard to implement since basic Drag'n'Drop support is already there. just need it for tabs.
thanks for reading.

Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
Perhaps dra&drop in Tab widget will be better than inactive tab??
Pierre.
Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
I would still prefer drag to inactive tab for tab to be focused on.xnview wrote:Perhaps dra&drop in Tab widget will be better than inactive tab??
By tab widget do you mean the tab bar? Why not just add support for both
Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
So:
* Drag&Drop on a viewer tab => replace current picture
*Drag&Drop on tab bar => open a new view tab
right?

*Drag&Drop on tab bar => open a new view tab
right?

Yes. That is how it should work!xnview wrote:So:

Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
You see you have to be careful if implementing this tab bar one in the case of doing it with a batch amount of files. Would each file opne in each new tab or would the first file from a batch just open in one new tab only?xnview wrote: *Drag&Drop on tab bar => open a new view tab
For me, I would not add support for dra'n'drop to tab bar (yet)
Yes but also for <empty> tab as wellxnview wrote:So:

Please watch this small video I made for what I mean: This topic is related to this: http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=21042
Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
Just been briefly playing with this new feature A big Thank you for this.
The only thing left to fix on this feature is to make the non-active tab focused view/highlight upon drag'n'dropping of items and that would be this previous topic http://newsgroup.xnview.com/viewtopic.php?f=60&t=21042

Re: Request: Drag'n'Drop to non-active Tabs to activate tab
Right,
The tab focus-highlight feature is now in XnViewMP 0.38.1 BUT, it's strangely somewhat stubborn to display.
I have made this small video to show what it's currently like in 0.38.1 build (40 second video):

..Can you see how the highlight responds after a little while but not initially.
EDIT:-
Actually to get tab to highlight on drag 'n' drop you have to do have the drop item across the window title bar but this is still a bug issue (as seen in the video) because the feature should respond from ANY area space of drag 'n' drop.
