• Here, I get a selection mark, but as a narrow frame set INSIDE the thumbnail(s) just around the pattern,
and not outside further in the cell as expected.
- Moreover, there's no “selection colour” background like in 1.9x, only that poor frame…

Hello,
I also prefer the colored background like in 1.9x instead the narrow frame around the thumbnail in MP0.26L

IMO, the selection indicator should be clearly visible with any thumbnail design.
In this view, six thumbs are selected. Can you tell which ones?

I agree. Pierre mentioned that it is realated to shadow at another topic.JohnFredC wrote:IMO, the selection indicator should be clearly visible with any thumbnail design.
What about:
-Turn those hovering icons at upper-left from grey to blue? Collecting them as each item is selected. So then more color change is seen.

• There is worse : I tried to disable the drop shadow, then there is not any selection mark, not even the blue frame !

- The cell is highlighted when the mouse hovers it, but that doesn't remain, it vanishes as soon as you move the cursor over another cell (even clicking on before).

An adjustment to the thumb image itself (in addition to the already-implemented highlights in the thumbnail's cartouche) might work well to indicate selection.
For instance, here the six selected files (see my post, above) have been "colorized":
Selection invisible:

Selection visible:

This would not work well for images that match the colorization chosen, but perhaps the effect could be user selectable...

• This could be a solution, but it makes the image less meaningful and hard to spot… We could also imagine, for instance :
1. Make the selected thumb nail¦s blinking (F=1Hz…),
2. Draw an animated frame around (marching ants), having of course a colour reverse of the current BG one…
What do you think ?

Hi Clo...
I'm not a big fan of marching ants or blinking in the browser.
Maybe draw/superimpose a rectangle ON TOP of the thumb image (not the thumb cartouche)? The rectangle would not be part of the thumbnail cartouche design itself, but painted on top...

User-selectable color, of course.

• I'm not either, but if easy to implement, I could live with…I'm not a big fan of marching ants or blinking in the browser. …
- The frames you show here are OK, and could replace the drop shadow when selected… They could solve the issue of no mark at all when the shade is OFF, like I said above…

Good morning all,
Applying a change to the miniature makes me curious about the thumbnail gamma effect- having some similarities to crop-mask.

+1, for me this solution is good enough, (and probably easy to do ?)marsh wrote:...Turn those hovering icons at upper-left from grey to blue?...
So turning the first hovering icon at upper-left (the square for tag) from white-gray to blue (or an other custom color) is a good idea I think. ?
FI: the only limitation is than: Tag is a red cross inside the first (gray or blue or custom) upper-left square icon. so the custom color must not be the same red color. (except if the Tag color cross can be customized too)

Hi Clo!
That may depend how easy it is for Pierre to temporarily designate a different thumbnail style for the selected thumbs only, without changing all of the others at the same time...could replace the drop shadow when selected…

Re: MP 0.26.1w: Selection invisible if no thumb labels/filenames
...Or maybe the easiest solution for Pierre is to leave a small pixel area in the bottom of the thumbnails at the same place of the Filename area ( even if: Options->Thumbnail->Appearance->Show Filename in thumbnail mode = OFF ) ?
FI: This solution is good enough for me too.
