Where is the option []Do not ask overwrite...

Post by brotondi »

Hello

If I remember right, there was an option to disable "The file <E:\_\1.png> already exists ! Do you want to overwrite it ?" after changings on the current file. (Ctrl-S just saves, since overwriting the old version is quite normal.).
... but after half an hour searching the options I give up...

Thanks!
Bruno
btw: Pressing "Options" in this Dialog opens "Options > Read/Write" I think we could put there also the Tab "File Operations"

btw... as much as I remember, there are different users with their own tutorials and manuals (even me). Why don't we start a wiki?

Not Wiki aware…

:) Hi Bruno !

• Our Manual exists for a long while - it was even the first Help folder, in French first and English then- and can be installed as the Help in XnView when downloaded…
- So, there are CHM versions for that purpose… I confess that I'm not aware of the Wiki code, it's quite different and a bit twisted (while the BB code is very similar to HTML, thus easy), and I miss time to learn that now.
- Pierre may use any part of our Manual to add in the official Help, we authorized him, so…
- Indeed, nothing against a Wiki, but I can't contribute to… We have one for Total Commander -English, but we neither made a French one, nor contributed to,
we make also online¦downloadable Tutorials, very time-consuming…

Hi Claude!

I use and simultaneously extende a makro to translate Word to Wiki... Should work also with your pages. But what I don't understand: Where are all your XNView-Pages? Or is it all written on that single page?

@Pierre: What do you think about an official Wiki?
- there exist single-login-addons phpBB/Mediawiki
- Multilanguage: a) a wiki for each language or better: MainLanguage (perhaps english) and Translation-page /fra, /ger
- There exists a primitive WYSIWYG-Plugin for Wiki (no copy/paste but formatings)
- The wiki will grow, if we put the answers into the wiki and link from the forum there (Discussion on-board, Solutions on-wiki)
- for vBulletin thanks to his WYSIWYG it's very easy to link: Simply copy the entry from the Wiki-"table of contents" to the forum.
(I know, it's off-topic now, but so I don't waste time with a new thread, if no one is interested :) )

Hi Pierre

I think to get it work, one should really outsource the solutions: Discuss in the Board as long as necessary, but poste Solutions in the wiki and link to them...
If the article does not exist: Create it.
Since it's possible to link to chapters inside an article a wiki can grow and remain transparent. A forum sometimes hides solutions even from the search engines...

But a community needs to accept this way and learn to go it ... and perhaps it makes no sense at all...

Only an idea...

And once again: Thanks for you nice XnView :)
