Group by Date (day,week,month,year)

Would be nice a feature to GROUP the picture by date (with the option to choose day,week,month,year); I mean SORT by date does this function but I like to GROUPing the images with a separation or a little header with the indication of the group, something like explorer does with his function of grouping, and outlook (not outlook explorer) also have got the options to sort the email by date grouping it by day/week etc...
It is help when you have to identify photos taken in a group of time.

No I don't like stacking, I was thinking something simple, only a separation in the thumbnails view grouped by date.

In the attached image you can see in red what I was thinking.

in this way I can immediatly see the group of shoots on that day.

It is something like the "Show in Group" in the view menu of any window in Windows, choosing "Arrange icon by -> accessed"

I fully support this request and would use it immediately.

Most file managers have this function. The allowed grouping value should be any file property, system metadata, EXIF, IPTC, or XnView rating/category field.

I support this request too, sorting & grouping by exif, iptc,... dates will be a nice improvement.
(function not only for one folder, but should be effective for a folder and its sub-folders).
Maybe like Digikam for linux:

This feature doesn't exist yet?
I can't find an option to group a folder of 1500 files by at least a month in common between photos to group them. I have found that digiKam has something similar though as suggested above.

Windows file explorer grouping is too generalized (simplified) and therefore completely useless.
