Where is the MP INI file?

Post by JohnFredC »

XnView MP doesn't save settings on my system, reverting to the defaults each time.

The settings are saved in the Windows registry:
  • HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\XnView\XnViewQT

I knew they had to be somewhere! :)

Here's hoping they don't stay in the registry...

:) Hello !

• Nope ! Nothing in the registry here ! Moreover, saving the settings in the registry is a pain in the neck.

Whenever I install a new program and/or run it for the first time, I'm monitoring all changes made to the system (Windows 2K).

XnView MP alpha 0.001 created the following registry keys:
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\Browser\
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\Load\
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\Start\
Besides creating the file XnView2.db in my %AppData% folder, alpha 0.005 added these entries:
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\FilterView\
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\Save\
  • HKCU\Software\XnView\XnViewQT\Viewer\

This is normal for an alpha project, but I think the .ini file should come back in a near future (as option or default like before).

:) Hi !

• Sorry, here under XP-Pro SP1 (SP3 @ Paul's), the alpha 0.001 created nothing in the registry (and it crashed continually),
and the current one didn't either…
- Performing a Search with Regedit, …\XnViewQT is nowhere to be found. No setting is saved.
Here, the path is :
E:\XnV_MP\xnview.exe
It has nothing to do with the one you show in the registry.
- I have several other versions installed, each has a key (I wrote and added myself), so …

Hi Clo...

Not in my registry, either. That explains why no options persist between sessions.

Yes, currently XnViewMP save settings in registry. I'll add option to use .ini as XnView win

Correct. Used a tool to search registry for XnViewQT. Not found.

The only thing XnView MP remembers is that I use layout 7. Nothing else.

Weird, huh?
