Maybe a new feature could be added to the tool, that is updating the software automaticaly, if new version published. Timeframe for checking new versions could be monthly (it's enough) or weekly.
What is your opinion?

Great! Many softwares, such as Getright or eMule already have this function.

Yes, a good idea. But security issues should be taken into account: Administrators may dislike software connecting to the internet and/or even updating itself. So there should be some (hidden) flag to completely disable the auto-update.

Great, sounds good. But not hidden, better to have a normal option.

Yes. A first step would be to enhance "Check for update". Later, a configurable auto update could be added with options Never/Daily/Weekly/Monthly.

I agree. Perhaps it should be added also to
"First-Start screen" then.
It will be working also with ZIP versions?

My opinion is the same, automatic update function could be added to Option/General. But 'check for update' should be renamed to "Updates".

Hello, is there a plan for the next step of update function?
I mean, not only to have possibility to set frequency of checking new version, but in case new version is available installing the upgrade could be done automatically (or after user agreed that or this function is just set anywhere within Tools/Options as default).

+1 (check/download/install updated files/restart XnView)
