Great idea, you will pay lessons for all xnview users, OK?

BTW - today it's the same, once English, once French - same browser, strange. :?

When I get logged out of the forum (I never intentionally log out, but occasionally I'm logged out anyway. Not sure if such is the result of a bug, or a flawed software design (when I log into something (other than a secure site, like a bank or whatever), I expect to stay logged in until I log out).), it's suddenly in french (it's always french, never any other language). Once I sift through the links (have to hover over them and watch the statusbar for the one that says login.php) and log back in, it goes back to english. This happened to me again just the other day.

It's a FEATURE.

Prevents other people from abusing your identity. The timeout, however,
should be adjustable, from 5 min to 2 hours maybe ...

Russian should be available, too. Honestly, I have no clue why the forum language sometimes changes for a specific user.

It's a FLAW. Anyone who uses a public computer and is too stupid to log out when they're done deserves to have their identity abused. Those of use who aren't on public computers shouldn't have to suffer just because some people don't have enough sense to take basic precautions.

Besides, we're not talking hours or minutes, we're talking days or even weeks. A session that expires after a week doesn't protect anyone from anything.

SORRY but definitely disagree

Besides "done":

- Computer crashes
- Internet connection gets lost
- Electricity blackout
...

We are talkin about the option "Log me on automatically each visit [X]" which does reset every once in a while (in months for me). This option is not as robust as it should be (for whatever reason), which is a flaw.
When not logged in, language should always be English.
But all this does work pretty well most of the time, though... and those bugs are minor. More discussions/efforts should be aimed at cleaning the opened issues of the 1.90 test-drive, IMHO...

Flaw or bug - it doesn't matter. Switching the forum language is no good. At the moment we have no resources to look into this. Admins have this on the ToDo list.

sort order of posts

Post by murthy363 »

hi all,

Good day! This is my first post in the forum. I made a few posts earlier as guest.

I wish the default sort order of posts in a thread be 'Newest first' than the present 'oldest first'.

If it is not being done for any specific reason, at least each user may have the option to set the sort order to 'newest first' in the PROFILE settings.

Please leave the DFLS as it is - I've learned so much these months.

 Today I've learned, that something like "BXOA" means "Log in"!

Forum language before logging in

Post by murthy363 »

what should be the forum language before logging in?

Instead of it's being one, it can be one of the available options depending on the country from where the member / guest logs in. The IP address gives some clue on the country from where one logs in.

Another possibility is to have ALL of the available options (at least the most popular language options) in the same window. Looks stupid but it works.

A third possibility to make all the window contents and the responses placed in color coded background.

We may have one or a combination of the above solutions.

I hope I make some sense or at least not making non-sense.

Thanks for the great experience with XnView.
