some .DCM files open with errors or not open at all
(eg ImageGlass has no issues opening sample files)

Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

(first sample can't be loaded, jpeg2000 compression is not supported)

This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 1.9.0. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
