I am switching from windows to mac and regularly make selects from a group of hundreds or sometimes thousands of photos down to about 10% of that. On windows I have been using a piece of software called fast stone image viewer, I guess you might know of it. One great thing that allows me to do is hit 'C', which brings up a dialog box allowing me to choose a directory to copy to, hitting C again then goes ahead and copies it. I am able to do this from full screen viewing mode, and when double tapping C it all happens so smoothly that I don't even see the dialog box, and can without pause hit the right arrow key to go to the next photo. Once I am done all my selected raw files are in a separate folder so I delete the folder with the original raw files in it.
I downloaded XnViewMP and was excited to see there is similar 'copy to' function and I could even change the hotkey for 'copy to' to 'enter'. I was hoping I would be able to hit enter twice and have it work the same way but upon hitting enter it automatically quits full screen, and it seems I have to manually click on 'copy' in the dialog box as enter doesn't activate that function anyhow.
Any time I have mentioned this workflow to friends who are into photography they always think it's a great idea, but are mostly mac users. I feel like there is no way Faststone image viewer is coming to mac after all these years so I wanted to suggest it here with the hope that you might be able to tweak XnViewMP, or better yet there might already be this functionality built in and I am just going about it the wrong way.

Re: Copy function suggestion
That didn't work. I'm using mac, can you tell me which functions you are referring to? Just in case I've modified hotkeys, I don't think so as I've just changed 'copy to' and 'fullscreen'.

Re: Copy function suggestion
My point with that is that it's really nice to be able to hit the same key twice to perform a copy, and speeds up the process greatly. I don't care if it's enter or not, but thought that might be the only way for it to be the same key twice, since I can't see a way to get the 'copy' in the dialog to work with another key apart from enter, it's either click 'copy' or hit enter.
I didn't realise enter was a default for switching screen modes, that's good to know and was throwing a spanner in the works earlier.
So far I am having mixed luck with the shortcuts/hotkeys they seem to work sometimes and not others. Using cmd shift C, the default hotkey combo, loads up the 'copy to' dialog box, and with enter disabled like you instructed it does confirm the copy. So that's my main care solved right there. I can actually do this on mac it's a huge deal for me.
Is there any reason I might be struggling to reassign the hotkey for 'copy to' from 'cmd shift c' to any other key, I've tried several by now, and taken care to avoid doubling up with hotkeys already in use. The only one I can get to work is the original cmd shift C. It would be great if it can be assigned to the enter key so it's a simple 1 finger double tap rather than a 2 handed 4 fingered process.

Re: Copy function suggestion
Just wondering if you had a crack at changing the hotkey for 'copy to' and if it worked for you? If so do you have any suggestions about what I could do differently my end? I tried saving the custom hotkeys as a separate file as I saw that functionality there, and then tried loading that saved file back in after but still to no avail.

in Settings>Shortcuts, make sure you selected "Viewer" in the top left corner (its set to "Browser" by default)

Ah man I had seen that but had thought about it differently, was thinking certain functions fell under browser and certain other ones fell under viewer, but not that the same function could fall under both, that has solved my issue entirely now, that is wicked thanks so much.
