1.8.0: HIF thumbnails not rotated properly

I just installed 1.8.0, but unfortunately this bug has returned. :( The HIF thumbnail for a vertical photo is not oriented properly. When I click on the thumbnail the full size photo is properly oriented though.

The bug was fixed in 1.7.2, but now it is back in 1.8.0.

Is it necessary to uninstall 1.8.0 before reinstalling 1.7.2 on a Mac? Can I just install 1.7.2 without uninstalling 1.8.0 and it will do the right thing? I have done lots of configuration to XnView and I do not want to lose all of that if I go backwards.
