scrolling folders

Post by ellenph »

I just installed xnview MP on macOS.
Is it possible to scroll thru a list of folders without having to open each folder separately?

I actually have the same question for Win 10 (I think).

ellenph please correct me if I'm wrong, I think the question is whether or not there's any way, in Browser view, to automatically scroll from images in one folder seamlessly into the next (or previous) folder without clicking on the folder in the File Tree panel.

For example, let's say I have a root folder called Pictures, and within that folder there are folders by date, like Dec 1, Dec 2, Dec 3. If I'm Browsing the photos from Dec 2, can I make it so that when I scroll down to the last image on Dec 2, it automatically starts showing the images from Dec 3? Or conversely, if I scroll up from the first image on Dec 1, it automatically starts showing the images from Dec 1?

Ideally, you'd be able to do this without "jumping" from folder to folder. Preferably the browser window would automatically start displaying the contents of the next (or previous) folder in-line as you scroll. This would make browsing through a large number of pictures for a particular image much easier.

Thanks!

I would like to revive this topic :)
Still waiting for this feature to be implemented in XnView... She's the only reason I still use FastStone...
There are two file browsing functions -> Loop & Auto Next Folder (Auto-proceed to next folder when end of current folder is reached)

This function is good and can be used as viewing files.
True, this will require several actions: Open path and click "Show files in subfolder" > Sort by path. And I also need to be able to immediately see in which folder file is located, without clicking “Open file storage folder”. In short, this is not suitable when working with files.
