MacOS: Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab for navigating between tabs
hello, I am trying to navigate between tabs in viewer mode on macOS 12.4 and the ctrl+tab/ctrl+shift+tab hotkeys don't seem to be working. Is it possible to use a hotkey to navigate between tabs on macOS?

Hello,
Yes, it is possible to use a hotkey to navigate between tabs in macOS. The default hotkey to switch between tabs in most applications on macOS is Command+Option+Arrow key (left or right). This should work in the viewer mode of most applications as well.
If this hotkey does not work for you, it's possible that the application you are using has a different set of hotkeys for tab navigation. You can check the application's documentation or preferences to see if there is a different hotkey for tab navigation.
Alternatively, you can also try using the Control+Tab or Control+Shift+Tab hotkeys, as you mentioned in your question. These hotkeys may not work in all applications, but they are commonly used in web browsers to navigate between tabs.

If none of these hotkeys work for you, it's possible that the application you are using does not support tab navigation via hotkeys. In this case, you may need to use the mouse or trackpad to switch between tabs.
I hope this helps!

Is this now possible to implement? The ticket is listed as Fixed as of April 24th. I know it has been a while, so it may have gone unnoticed.

Re: MacOS: Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab for navigating between tabs
I take it you still use 5 to maintain the ability for people to use legacy operating systems? Is there any chance of a future with an update to 6? Doing some quick flipping through various sites, it looks like 5 is at end of life at this point and 6 is pretty far in.
Is there a way, at all, to switch tabs on Mac? I can't find a way to bind it to some hotkey (Or from the keyboard section to set it to say up and down arrows.) or to do anything other than manually clicking the tab I want. That was alright until my mouse started wearing out and the double clicks started happening. I just got a new mouse, but that hesitancy to click anything is still there.
That led me here and when I saw the ticket, I got my hopes up a bit. Then you deflated them instantly.

Re: MacOS: Ctrl+Tab/Ctrl+Shift+Tab for navigating between tabs
Ah... I did some reading around and I see in another thread you mentioned 2025. Then I found that the extended support, for version 5, lasts until May 2025.
Do you have any workarounds for this? Perhaps less us set a hotkey for it or add it to the keyboard section, as a selectable option for the arrow key combos?
I don't pretend to fully understand the ticket on the Qt bug tracker, but if it is just saying that it's limited to certain key combos that version 5 doesn't support (Due to, I guess, limiting them for OS usage.), then couldn't it be set up to just let us pick a key or key combo to use? I mean, if it is just the act of changing tabs, then I guess we are waiting until past May.
If it is just the key combo that other OS offerings use, then perhaps there could be a way for anyone on any supported operating system to use a solution that they feel most comfortable with, if you gave us other options. I'm coming from Windows and got used to switching tabs on there, but I always wanted a bit more control over it, too. Now, on macOS, I would take just about anything. Desperate times.
