Thumbnail Generation by DATE (Newest)

Hello - I need to change the thumbnails that display for each of my folders to be by date, the newest images added instead of it being the oldest first, how would I do this?

Thanks! I've tried changing the display order and rebuilding thumbnails so far. I just want to sort thumbnail building to date (newest) in case I wasnt clear

When using sort by it doesn't seem to change the thumbnails themselves, just the sorting of the folders as intended?

I'm actually having the same problem. Sorting, is only sorting the files inside the folder, and the folders themselves, but the '4 thumbnails on the cover' of the folder always rebuild to alphabetical order, regardless of how the folders, and the files inside the folders, are sorted. I personally would prefer the thumbnails on the cover to be sortable by date, so I can see the newest images added to my image folders.
