HEIC fileformat. Context menu not available.

Post by Nalle »

Thank you so much for this useful application.
I'm having an issue with the HEIC filetype that I often need to convert.

The context menu does not appear for HEIC file extensions. However, it works fine for all other file types I've tested such as JPG.

I tried the suggestion in another post of copying the below DLL-files to my ShellEx plugin folder to no avail.
Plugins\heif.dll
Plugins\libde265.dll
Plugins\libx265.dll

The information that I was able to gather is that HEIC should indeed be supported by the application. Can you help me solve the problem please?

I was copy xnviewshellext64.dll, dav1d.dll, de256.dll and now I can see heic and avif images.
IMO setup package is for upgrade.

Had problems with .HEIC not showing with the shell extension.
Downloaded the XnShellEx64.zip and copied the plugins over the existing plugin folder.
Works perfectly now!

This seems to still be an issue with 4.1.10

I uninstalled/rebooted/reinstalled and could not get HEIC images to appear in the context menu.
After downloading the zip and dropping the contents of Plugins/ into C:\Program Files\XnView\ShellEx\Plugins they're working now. Are there some stale library files in the .exe distribution?

I confirm it is still the case.
Context menu for HEIC files is available in 4.1.6, but NOT in 4.1.10

See my other post on the topic here : viewtopic.php?p=199434#p199434

Yes, it's. Work fine now.

BTW, "about" page say last version is a 2023 year, not 2024.
