Suddenly the favorites were gone?
Suddenly the favorites were gone:
IS there a way to get them back? In what file / where are they stored in?

in 'settings>Integration - Paths', you have 'open folder' to open the location of catalog, favorites, ...

OK. Where are the favorites stored there, their locations, paths?
Cannot find something like that in xnview.ini.

Re: Suddenly the favorites were gone?
Oops, so for the favorites. Sounds odd.
Cannot find such file here.
May be there is an issue caused by the PortableApps version, by the last update or so (perhapts since that the favorites are missing). Before I used the normal portable version from the download page here.
Is there a way to get the favorites back now?
How could one import / export all of the settings, especially one's own settings to another XnView?

Re: Suddenly the favorites were gone?
So then copy ALL of these files (not the sub folders?) in that folder to the similar folder of a new / actual XnViewMP and overwrite all files there?you can backup all files in this folder
In the new / destination XnViwMP there can not be updated files one could overwrite with the files of the source XnViewMP? There are some dll files, which might be updated sometimes (or are the files in that folder never updated?). So when such updated dll files are overwritten with the same dll files from the old / source XnViewMP it might not be good, I could imagine.
Sorry, I meant: Before I used the normal portable version from the download page here such has not happened before.

Re: Suddenly the favorites were gone?
How does one know what files are for settings. db files are settings files as well? Are you able to name, list all of these files, not only a few of them so that one could copy them? That would absolutely be great and you would be a undaunted hero for me.all files in XnViewMP folder for settings (xnview.ini, bookmark.ini, xnview.db, ...)

xnview.ini: Settings
xnview.db & thumb.db: Catalog
bookmark.ini: Favorites
layout*.dat: Layouts
default.bar: Toolbar
default.keys: Shortcuts
you can have .iptc & .xxmp (iptc/xmp templates)

Re: Suddenly the favorites were gone?
Super, only a super hero can do something like that, thank you very much!
There obviously are disappeared some more settings files from my XnViewMP. E.g. the layout files.
It seems (some of) these setting files appear to have different locations in the Portable Apps version and the one downloadable from the Xn website. Kind of confusing. In the Portable Apps version obviously these settings files are stored at least in two different locations.
OK, so it seems to be better to use the version from the Xn website (not the one of Portable Apps), I assume. In this version all of the setting files at least have a single folder they are stored in.
By the way, may be an import / export option would be good. So one could with a single or two clicks import / export all of one's own settings. That could be so easy.
