renaming multiple images

Post by MartinP »

Hi all,
it seems, i've lost the possibility to rename multiple files at once - renaming single files works.
This is the prcess on Windows 10 with version 1.4.1:
mark several files; pres <F2>; menu pops up (sorry german interface); filling in new name and a numbering
Image
after hitting "OK" this appears
Image
saying "Error renamimg. The file could not be renamed"

Well, I'm not using this every day, but I swear it worked last year (round about summer) and now after updating it does not work anymore - in between I can't say. I normally update to every new version, but haven't used multiple renaming in between.

Well there were WIN10 updates in between but my working path where I work with the images before storing them is still the same. And multi renaming with other tools with the same files in the same dir does work normal.

Did I miss a new configuration for that?

Thanks
Martin

Thanks al ot for looking in!

No, it is not an issue with rights or protection or what ever - I found it, it was an issue with the INI file

some years ago I've configured some sidecar definitions for JPG, TIF and other:

if I delete those last lines, renaming is working again

This configuration was cool for having XN to move those files together with the JPG, TIF etc. Well, I dont need this anymore, so I can delete them. But these lines did not influence the renaming until the version in most propbly the December version of last year.

In december, there has been a changement in the rename to respect the case of the companion files, perhaps the origin of the problem ?
here is the change.
