i noticed that on my Xubuntu 20.04 the file Thumb.db was more then 2GB big. I can't find an option to limit the size of both files or only save thumbs for x month. Is there anything i can do to limit the size? I don't need thumbs from projects that ended x-mas 2020
All I can say about this, is, that within the settings/preferences there are settings for the catalog and in there you can find i.e. the "optimize" button where you can delete all stuff from empty dir. And there is also a big list of directories where you can delete those not used any longer. This should get the size a little smaller.
That means the folders "Catalog maintenance" are the sources of the thumbnails saved in Thumb.db? Even when the folder doesn't exist anymore the thumbs will be kept in thumb.db?
When i delete a folder from list xnviewmp is deleting the thumbs from *.db?
There is an option "Maximum size for cached thumbnails". Is this the option 'm searching for? When happened when the max size is arrived? is the first thumb stored in the db deleted?
Well I can't answer your quetion, sorry.
I do optimize the DB from time to time, which keeps it at a certain size - works for me. I'm not aware of an automtic size regulation.
