Hi, if I'm not paying attention I do 'Save As' and find that I've unintentionally 'saved to some directory that I was maybe using last week. Sometimes that directory seems sticky I mean I correct the directory that I want to save but it seems to still remember the 'old' directory. I've noticed this in other programs as well.
I'm using XnViewMP Mint Cinnamon.
My question is what is the philosophy behind the memorizing of the 'Save As' directory, is there any way of forcing it to change, any tips workaround welcomed
What decides 'Save As' directory?

I also have that problem and expect most people do, I think the reality is that sometimes it is convenient to save to the last-used directory, and other times it is desired or expected to save to the default directory. As you say the issue applies to software in general, and actually not just to image software.zzapper wrote: Fri Sep 09, 2022 6:32 pm Hi, if I'm not paying attention I 'Save as...' and find that I've saved to some directory that I was maybe using last week. The only answer I can see would be for software save menus to have a way to select 'Remember this location' or something similar when it is desired to make a series of saves to a non-default location. I think that would be useful, but I can't think of any software that does.

I guess I just need to train myself to 'initialize' the 'Save As' Folder before each session
