1.00: ZIP archive - Content not displayed
<Moderator's note: This topic has been split from another topic.>
This is an amazing feature that I have been waiting for a long time. But, I can't find how to turn it on. I've been scratching my head for 2 hours now. I downloaded the new archive 1.0 from the main page of the site. And I probably read everything on the forum related to opening .rar, but when I double-click on the archive, the false files are not displayed. Please help me with this. Thank you.

Re: Full support for zip and rar files
Good to read that you like the archive enhancement, Levan. Double-clicking on an archive should do the trick, i.e. open the archive and display the images it contains in the XnView browser. Doesn't this work for you? Which type of archive (ZIP, ...) do you try to browse?Levan wrote: ↑Sun Jul 31, 2022 4:27 pm This is an amazing feature that I have been waiting for a long time. Re: Full support for zip and rar files
Yes, I am trying to open rar and zip files. I even tried to remove the program and put it clean. nothing helps. In the archives I have files .jpeg .HDRI .jpg .png (and other image formats) .max .IES .fbxhelmut wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 5:12 pm Good to read that you like the archive enhancement, Levan. None of the files are visible in the archive. just emptiness.
I am grateful to you for such a prompt reply. This is really important to me.
I have added a short video. Maybe this will help.

Wonderful program. I have been using it for a very long time and there is no replacement for it.

Re: Full support for zip and rar files
Thank you for your extra info and screen video, Levian. In the video one can clearly see that browing the RAR archives looks as if you browsed an empty folder. There must be something special about your RAR files - could you please provide a (small) sample RAR file?

Re: Full support for zip and rar files
I'll upload the archive just in case. https://drive.google.com/file/d/1RT3j3t ... sp=sharinghelmut wrote: ↑Mon Aug 01, 2022 8:51 pm Thank you for your extra info and screen video, Levian. But, I found the problem why I can't see the contents of the archives. The folder where the archive is located and the archive itself must be in English. This is resolved on my part.
I will think about how to change the name of all archives and previews to them automatically in English.
This is strange, because he opens ordinary folders not in English and does not want archives
If possible, another question. Inside the archive, only image formats have icons, other files do not. Can I fix it?
Thanks for your help and sorry for wasting your time.

Re: Full support for zip and rar files
Thank you for your sample RAR archive, Levin. Good that you found the reason for your problem yourself: RAR archives with non-ascii chars in filename can be browsed but XnView MP will display no contents (thumbnails). I could reproduce your problem - after renaming the RAR archive from Ї "ї.rar" to "test.rar" content (thumbnails) are displayed. From my point of view this is a bug.
Note: Your request turned out to be a bug report. I'll split off the recent posts and will put them in a new topic, soon. So don't be surprised if you don't find your posts right away - you can find them easily by browsing your profile and then click on "Show your posts".

Re: Full support for zip and rar files
Hmm, at the moment no thumbnail is displayed at all which looks like a bug to me. For non-image files a placeholder thumbnail is supposed to be displayed (when unpacking the contents and then browsing the contents in XnView one can see thumbnails for all files including non-image files which is correct.)
As long as you or other persons benefit from my answers it's not a waste of time at all.

In XnView MP 1.0.1 you (Pierre) have worked on the ZIP and RAR archives a bit. Has this problem been fixed in XnView 1.0.1, too?

Re: 1.00: ZIP archive - Content not displayed
Hello. Some archives still do not display content. In this case, I do not know why they are not visible.
Others open and show the content, but many of the icons are still blank.
Icons are not displayed for many formats. In particular, I don't see anything at all in .max - .obj - .rar - .mtl - .fbx - .txt
I'll add a link to a dad with 3 different problems. Maybe you can understand the reason. I didn't expect such a quick response on this issue. I am pleasantly surprised and grateful that you are so actively supporting the community.

And it doesn't open rar inside rar. But maybe that's okay.
And if you open rar inside rar, then the back button no longer goes up.
And one more question. If I drag a file from archive to explorer or desktop or total comander it doesn't pull it out. Perhaps this is also normal. But it would be great to get the files from the archive.
I also can't figure out why some folders have 4 thumbnails and some show one.
Although the content is the same. and there and there images and rar archives. more than 4 pieces everywhere.
Perhaps this is due to the fact that there is rar inside next to the images.
I'm sorry, I'm not allowed to attach an example image. I uploaded it to the same folder for you.

Unfortunately, no. I know that some features sometimes do not work in the program without administrator rights. (for example, saving settings) But even with administrator rights, it does not drag files from the archive. - Writes an error: the file is not found.
