And when finished running the configured multiple parallel 'threads', changing the same setting would restore the standard XnConvert interface.
i don't see :)
Not possible, or not an interesting suggestion?

If it is technically possible, I think it could potentially provide a very flexible way of meeting the regularly-requested general need, and do so without in any way compromising the existing very attractive and intuitive basic interface? A suitable user interface to be defined, of course, I have some ideas.

I have been trying to ask a question on a basic point concerning interface design:

When the XnConvert window is open, could a user action (such as a click on a checkbox on the Settings tab) cause the XnConvert window to change in width to add a new area on the right that could display whatever controls (Drop-downs, Checkboxes etc.) are required to set up multi-output processing?

I am not sure whether it is obvious that is possible, or possibly should be obvious that it isn't...

If it is possible to implement something like the above, detailed design of the multi-output controls required can be considered.

The advantage of an interface design based on the above concept is that the existing familiar XnConvert interface would remain unchanged for single-output use, so no confusion, with just an option added to enable multi-output operation.

An outline has now been posted as this new thread: Proposal to add support for output of alternative versions of input files.

Note, however, that further elaboration would be needed to run different actions for different watched (hot) folders, the original subject of this thread, as all outputs are created from files input to the same Input tab.
