I think it's not a good idea to have strings in a software which cannot be translated at all. Think of Chinese people for example.
What are "Conbright" and "Gammasat"?

When I searched online once to try to find out, the only links were to XnView...

Conbright and Gammasat are both neologisms:
- Conbright is built out of "contrast" and "brightness". This function affects both contrast and brightness.
- Gammasat affects both gamma value and saturation.

In German there are terms "Kontrastumfang" and "Leuchtkraft" that are pretty close and give a better idea than "Conbright" and "Gammasat" (see herbs suggestion in ** Deutsch - German) . And in other languages there might be better terms, too. I'd suggest to add a translator note in QTLinguist to the English translation and let translators decide. E.g. "Conbright is a neologism. This function affects both Contrast and Brightness. You may translate this term to your language if you find a good term for it or just leave it as it is."

Shortcut cannot be translated: "Alt + Return"
This shortcut is still not translatable. ATM, in German XnView it says "Alt + Enter" while it's supposed to say "Alt+Eingabetaste". This shortcut can be found in Browser mode in menu "Edit > Properties".

Hello Pierre,

Working with XnViewMP version 1.00 I played around with various images of my collection.
The GUI is in German.

For some of them I have seen that in - info-area -> tab Exif -> image - some names are not translatable:
- Serial number
- Lens model
- Lens serial number
- Lens make

Also for FujiFilm MakerNotes I found that tagname DynamicRange is not translatable

For Exif-tags please see attached screenshots.

Adding the following tag-ID and translations to file exif_de.lng solved the problem in my German GUI:

Code: Select all

[0102-A431]
Label=Kamera Seriennummer
ValueList=

[0102-A433]
Label=Objektiv Hersteller
ValueList=

[0102-A434]
Label=Objektiv Modell
ValueList=

[0102-A435]
Label=Objektiv Seriennummer
ValueList=

[A060-1400]
Label=Dynamikbereich
ValueList=1#Standard, 3#Erweitert
Best regards
herb

In XnView MP 1.3.0 there seem to be non-translatable strings which have been found by herb and reported in German topic:

(2)
In Settings > Interface > Toolbar > View mode some labels "... (move to next photo)" aren't translated.

Thank you for reporting non-translatable strings, Mantis3D. Labels "Browser" and "Viewer" are supposed to be translatable - see screenshot in my above post, there it says "Bildbetrachter" and "Bildansicht-Modus".

EDIT:
Context and strings in QT Linguist are:
DlgSettingsInterfaceClass > BrowseMode
DlgSettingsInterfaceClass > ViewMode

Peter (Peter2) pointed out that when inserting clipboard to XnView MP the assigned filename is "Clipboard 1". Currently, "Clipboard" is not translatable.

Again it was Peter (Peter2), one of our top-contributors, who found more non-translatable strings.

"User comment", "Taken date", "Digitized date", and more terms in "EXIF" sub menu are still English and I couldn't find a way to translate these to German.
