How to locate position of file found by search

Post by shokuzai »

Say, I am using Categories Filter and I found a file by Quick search. I want to see files nearby in a sorted order.
How can I locate the positon of that file in the whole current file list?
It is especially difficult when the filenames consist of Chinese characters. We don't know how tens of thousands of Chinese characters are arranged.

Thank you for your reply. That only works for the folder view and not for the categoy view and the tagged files view.
I tried some other methods but none of them worked.

#1 Tag and Select Method:
1. Tag the file in the Quick search result.
2. Clear the Quick search box and move the focus to the file list.
3. Click Edit > Select tagged files.
4. Press the arrow key.
Actual behaviour: The first item will be selected.
Expected behaviour: The adjacent item will be selected and the view will autoscroll to it.

#2 Details View Method:
1. Switch to Details view.
2. Scroll down to find the file (looking at the No. column, for example) and select it.
3. Switch to Thumbnails view.
Actual behaviour: The top of the list will be shown if the file is too far from the top.
Expected behaviour: The view will autoscroll to the file.
A workaround is showing and cancelling Settings after these steps. Then, strangely, it will autoscrolls.

(Showing and cancelling Settings also ignores Quick search and then the whole list is shown and the view autoscrolls to the selected file.
To reproduce:
1. Type in something to the Quick search box.
2. Select a file.
3. Show and cancel Settings.)
Edit: Surprisingly what I wanted is accomplished by this but it seems a kind of bug.

#3 File Index Label Method:
1. Go to Settings > Thumbnail > Labels.
2. Type in {File Index} to a custom label.
Actual behaviour: Nothing shown

({File Index} works in the information in Viewer but missing in Settings > View > Info > Insert>>)

:bugconfirmed: Thanks to your detailed description I can reproduce the problem.

Yes a known issue, you need to select the filename

{File Index} is not supported in Thumbnails label, so i need to remove it

Thank you very much. It works. It had nothing to do with the distance from the top.
