This is an especially frustrating one...
XnView: MP 0.84 x64
OS: Windows 7 - 64 bit
Effect: When tagging or untagging files by checking the box on their thumbnails, if the mouse is moving when it's checked, it will cause unwanted behavior. One of two things happens: whatever file is selected will jump to a new position to the left of the item the cursor is over (this happens regardless of how many files are selected, but only the first one is moved, and it could just as easily be moved to the right of the file, but because the checkbox is on the left side of the thumbnail, that's the side it almost always ends up going) or, less frequently, the mouse will act like the left button is being held down and will begin to select files (via the selection rectangle) as it's moved around. The behavior of dragging the mouse is different over these checkboxes than it is over the rest of the thumbnails. And which of these two things happens seems to be reliant on...something.
To reproduce:
1. Select one or more files in browser
2. Click the checkbox on another file's thumbnail and begin moving the mouse before releasing the mouse button
Actual behaviour (bug): See above
Expected behaviour: The checkbox should be checked/unchecked and nothing else

Agreed. (Quick working is interrupted)
Reproduced.
When tagging an image by clicking on the small square no other action (selection, moving, ...) and moving the mouse no second action must be started by XnView MP.

Re: 0.84: Tagging files by checking them causes strange beha
I actually meant frustrating as in troubleshooting.
Spent several more minutes on it and am still at a loss as to why it sometimes switches to selection mode vs moving the selected file. If anyone figures it out, I'd love to know.

Ah, I see.vertigo wrote:I actually meant frustrating as in troubleshooting.
When clicking on the square keep mouse button pressed and move the mouse around. Then selection or moving starts. But I cannot see a rule behind it either. (Note: You can start a "selection rectangle" when clicking on an empty area in the file list and keeping mouse pressed).vertigo wrote:Spent several more minutes on it and am still at a loss as to why it sometimes switches to selection mode vs moving the selected file. Re: 0.84: Tagging files by checking them causes strange beha
Right, but definitely not what it happening here. It just seems to happen ~5% of the time instead of moving the selected file. Is XnView equipped with a RNG that's active for random bugs? Re: 0.84: Tagging files by checking them causes strange beha
O.k., thank you, I can also reproduce the problem. Issue 1109 is fixed in next version.

Re: 0.84: Tagging files by checking them causes strange beha
This problem is supposed to be fixed in XnView MP 0.85 beta 1. Please check and confirm the bug fix here.
Pierre.

Appears fixed, but due to the seemingly random nature time will tell.
