Extra Plugins

Post by xnview »

XnView supports plug-ins that means additional libraries which are used for reading or writing additional file formats or additional filtering effects. The plug-ins are available on the normal XnView Download page.

The plug-in interface of XnView is publically available and allows any software developer to write a plug-in for XnView. If a plug-in was written by an external devloper, the plug-in is called Extra Plug-In.

Below please find a list of all Extra plug-ins available for XnView. Clicking on the name of the plug-in links to the appropriate topic.

o Xasc by Nikolay Raspopov - Reading ASC, NFO, and DIZ files
o Xhtm by Nikolay Raspopov - Reading HTML files
o Xswf by Nikolay Raspopov - Reading SWF files (Macromedia Shockwave)

Like normal plug-ins, all external plug-ins must be stored in the folder "..\<xnview dir>\PlugIns"

A 'Thank you very much!' to all the plug-in authors!

Pierre

I've just checked the links of all the plug-ins - none of them are broken.

Please be more specific in your description:
Which link does not work?
What exactly does not work?
Are there any error message?
Have you tried a second time?
...

Please also have a look at post SageThumbs 1.0.0.5 - Thumbnail image shell extension in which ckit mentions some problems when downloading.

Greetings,

Helmut

Do I need to "create" a folder named "pluginsex" within xnview?

Correct. As written above, the folder is "..\<xnview dir>\PlugInsEx" which typically maps to "C:\Program Files\XnView\PlugInsEx" on (English) Windows. You create this folder using MS Explorer.

Post by pvdvyve »

Hi, I just downloaded en installed:
XnView v1.74 Complete version (Plugins & NConvert)
and installed:
Plugins SDK
on mswinxp pro
If I open a dxf file I don'nt see a thing and still got the message:
CAD Image DLL - use CS_Plugins.exe for good resolution
Please register at www.cadsofttools.com
I don't get it. What to do now?
Thanks in advance.

To be able to read DWF/DXF file, XnView use a shareware from cadsofttools.com

All downloads lead to a 404 page with the following message:
Error 404

You requested the site or file:
/users/sage/xasc_1.0.0.1.zip

This site is not available through our server

I guess the owner of http://celebnamer.celebworld.ws/ has deleted them (can't find any info on the home page to those files/plugins either)? Does anyone else have those files and is willing to share them? I'm especially intersted in the SWF and HTML plugins.

8bf Plugins (Photoshop Plugins)

Post by SeaMaiden »

All 8bf plugins should be placed in the "8bf" folder (or subfolders inside the "8bf" folder). Do not place them in the PlugIns or PlugInsEx folders. Here are examples of some folders and subfolders you can use. They can be nested.

8bf
- Harrys Filter (The Plugin Site) Freeware
- opticVerve Labs (OpticVerve's virtualPhotographer) Freeware
- PhotoDeluxe
---Plugin1
---Plugin2
- PhotoshopElements
---Plugin1
---Plugin2
- Photoshop
---Plugin1
---Plugin2
- Other
---Plugin1
---Plugin2
- Unused
---Plugin1
---Plugin2

You do not have to load every plugin with XnView. Doing so will greatly slow down the application and, in some cases, can even cause it or Windows to crash. Load only the plugins you use frequently. Or, just load them as you need to use them. You can also keep infrequently used plugins in a folder called Unused.

Remember, you only have access to the 8bf plugins when a graphic file is open in XnView. If you have a graphic open and the Photoshop Plugins is greyed on in the Filter menu, you may need to convert the graphic to JPG or another file type.

To add an 8bf plugin in XnView:
1. Select Options from the Tools menu (or use the Options button on the toolbar).
2. Select Plugin Adobe 8bf.
3. Click Add and browse to the location of the plugin.
4. Click OK twice.

To remove an 8bf plugin from XnView:
1. Select Options from the Tools menu (or use the Options button on the toolbar).
2. Select Plugin Adobe 8bf.
3. Select the plugin you wish to remove.
4. Click Remove.
5. Click OK.
Windows 11 (64-bit), Android 12, XnViewMP 1.5.0, XnResize 1.10, XnShell 4.16

Can you please post an information where it can be found?
