Hi,
In XnViewMP v0.53, I notice that the status bar displays long file-names in their entirety which is good in a sense but can limit (push aside) other status bar information.
So it would be good if some "....." could be used to shorten the display of long file-names on the status bar.
Remembering that a user could still importantly access the "Properties" dialog or just use mouse-over for Tooltip on tabs (win/mac) to see the full display of a long file-name.
Actually mouse-over Tooltip is currently not supported for the Status bar.
Yes this issue pertains to using XnViewMP in a 'windowed' state (program window not maximized) but could also have affect on users with smaller resolution screens.
This is not an important request.

Re: 0.53: Long file-names truncation for GUI
This has been fixed in MP 0.56
---> I did a test with a filename with 177 random characters (using MP 0.56) and there is still no "..." truncation.
There should be truncation limit of 60 characters including any spaces for the status bar so that the XnViewMP status bar display is kept concise.
Please investigate this Pierre

Yes, I believe character count is better and yes the '...' should be in middle.xnview wrote:ok, currently i use a pixel width, and not character count. See screenshot which also shows tab's have the '...' in middle when the tab setting "pixel" is used filename from the above screenshot (approx. 75 characters)
