Wrong video orientation

Post by Opi »

Subject: 0.93: Videos taken in portrait mode play in 180° orientation

XnView: MP 0.93.1 - 64 bit
OS: Windows 10 64bit

Actual behaviour: Videos taken in portrait mode with smartphones (tested with huawei p20 and xiaomi mi 9t) in mp4 container with h.264 codec have an rotation tag. XnView MP seems to read this tag, but turns the video in the wrong direction. If I play the same videos in VLC Player it's right.

The Problem is also described for the classic version of XnViev viewtopic.php?t=38328.
In the Classic version the orientation is ignored completely.

Because nobody cares about it, the problem still exists in year 2021 in version 0.98.
Same procedure as in year 2019, I uninstalled the software and use Darktable instead.

No, I had bad experiences with such packages years ago and avoid them.

I'm also experiencing this problem of inverted portrait videos in Linux version 0.98.4 64bits (May 31 2021). And when I tried to change the setting to false as Pierre suggested above, I went from upside down videos to black screen for every video. :?

Also, are there keyboard shortcuts for Play and Pause? I hate having to find my mouse in the middle of cycling through files just to hit Play, and I've looked through the settings without finding any so far.

Same (known for a long time) problem here and no solution. All videos (taken with different divices) are shown correctly with other software (VNC, Faststone, ...). Only XnView is showing all videos upside down (yes, on the same machine). Unusable unfortunately.

Hi, I already tried this when i read it here. Changing this, it shows all videos horizontal / laying on the side. Not 180° wrong - only 90°. Is it better or less bad, but it is wrong. So I removed again.

I tried again, took some short videos with three different devices. All other players / editors show all this videos correctly. Only xnview is showing upside down or laying on side. Windows / Linux, whatever - same result.

Thanks, that did the trick for me, although all my thumbnails for all the videos disappeared after that, leaving only file icon:
Screen Shot 2022-06-13 at 13.57.01 .png
Is this expected? Is there a way to get thumbnails back without sacrificing orientation? I'm using XnView MP MacOSX Version 1.0 64bits (Apr 28 2022) with macOS v10.13.6.

Thank you.
