Import XMP color labels

Post by michel038 »

When reading metadata while import, XnViewMP can read xmp:label .
But it only reads values in (red, yellow, green, blue, purple)

But some other softwares use different values for this metadata. (rot, gelb, grün, blau, violett ... or anything else)
With some of these softwares, it's possible to choose to read other values ...

Could you implement a new method of import color labels, with a user defined list of equivalent values ?
This list could be added in Settings, metadata, Encoding or Labels tab ...

currently we have Settings>Metadata>Labels only used as displayed info.
Perhaps it will better to expand this setting. 'displayed label', 'write label', 'read label'

e.g.: 'Important' - 'Red' - 'Red,rot,rouge'

I tried v0.93 beta version for color labels.
I tried multiple configurations, and it works fine . Great job !

Maybe a wildcard can be useful when reading unknown metadata content
(purple, later, todo, * ) , so if black, grey, orange or anything else was read, purple label will be used instead.

---------------

I also searched for the use of color labels in other software :
- XnviewMP, Lightroom, Bridge are using 5 colors R Y G B P

- Aperture , Apple photos : 7 colors, Orange and Grey are added
- Digikam 9 colors, Black and White are added
Digikam uses numeric values : Red=1, Orange=2, Yellow=3, Green= 4, Blue=5, Magenta(purple?)=6, Grey=7, Black=8, White=9.

- Photomechanic 8 colors : no black, no white but light blue and dark blue

Some months ago jadO asked for extended color labels. viewtopic.php?f=60&t=37595
I don't know if it's useful , but it seems possible, I found no restrictions in xmp docs.

Last one, Imatch, reads all labels found in metadata, but seems to use only 7 colors

WOW! That's great!

May I ask where I can find the beta? I didn't find a downloadlink in the Betaforum
