How can I disable the drag and drop feature?
I am new to XnviewMP and in the last few days of using it, I've had nearly ten incorrect moves due to the drag and drop feature. In the forums I could only find one feedback thread from 2017 requesting a similar feature ( viewtopic.php?t=37903 ), but no reply from the developer.
Maybe we don't need to disable the drag and drop feature, but just give a confirmation dialogue popup window before the user drag and drop the folder.
Whatever, please improve the drag and drop feature. It's really important! I don't want to worry about my folders going to another place every second of the day while I'm using the program, It's too painful! Sincere and heartfelt thanks to the developer.

I strongly agree!
There is an option to confirm deletions. I see no reason, why there isn't the same option, for move and copy.

I would have thought better an option in Settings, so that users can enable or disable 'drag and drop' as they prefer?

I'd argue a "confirm" option would be more important/popular/used.
Also, quite significantly:
A "confirm" option work well enough, for those who want no copying/moving
...but a full disabling doesn't work at all, for those who want a confirm dialogue. Who want to copy/move sometimes, but want a confirm dialogue, to ensure it is never accidental. To ensure that it only happens when they are sure that they want it to happen.
Just as with those who use the "confirm delete" option.

Re: How can I disable the drag and drop feature?
Depends how particular users normally work?
For users who only wish to selectively block 'drag and drop' a confirmation prompt would be better, for users who never wish to use it, and wish to avoid the risk of an unfortunate accident that you described, a setting to disable 'drag and drop' would be preferable. So maybe a setting, with 'drag and drop' enabled with a confirmation prompt?
Personally, I never intentionally use 'drag and drop' due to the risk of an unintended consequence that could be unnoticed and hard to correct, although in Linux it actually seems to be the only way to load a file in some applications that lack File > Open..

As I said:cday wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:15 pmFor users who only wish to selectively block 'drag and drop' a confirmation prompt would be better, for users who never wish to use it, and wish to avoid the risk of an unfortunate accident that you described, a setting to disable 'drag and drop' would be preferable. For the former, a confirmation prompt is ideal, but a disabling would be worthless.
For the latter, disabling would be ideal, but a confirmation prompt would still kinda work.

Are you talking about dragging and dropping between XnView, and other programs?
...because given what the OP says about it (and the linking to the thread "Do we have a move undo?", as being related), it seems to me, to be quite clear that OP meant dragging and dropping within XnView.
Not to/from XnView from/to another program. (even though that is what is most often meant, when one uses the phrase "drag and drop")
As for dragging and dropping between XnView, and other programs:
I don't get why you'd want to drag and drop anything into XnView, and would be very worried about what that would do
...but I don't see why anyone would have a problem with dragging and dropping stuff from XnView.
Except doing so, into a file manager, of course. I would absolutely avoid that, and a disabling of copying/moving, due to such actions, would be nice and comforting.

No, I mean moving from one folder to another: https://imgur.com/9GZrkpu
Forgive my bad English. The reason for the incorrect folder movement is:
When opening many subfolders, in some cases, xnview may have some delay and lag.If you click on a folder before the delay , it may cause the folder to be move to another folder incorrectly. This makes me worry that my folder will move to another folder every moment. It would be nice to have a confirmation dialogue before the drag and drop folder movement happen.

I can add, that there are several other reason, for why such accidental drag and drops can occur.

Re: How can I disable the drag and drop feature?
There have been some previous requests to be able to disable drag and drop, not sure whether those posters' needs would be met by a confirmation prompt?cday wrote: ↑Wed Aug 30, 2023 7:15 pm For users who wish to selectively block 'drag and drop' a confirmation prompt would be a solution, for users who never wish to use it, and wish to avoid the risk of an unfortunate accident, a setting to disable 'drag and drop' would be preferable. So maybe a setting, with when 'drag and drop' is enabled a confirmation prompt?
Maybe as suggested above an option in Settings so that users can enable or disable 'drag and drop' as they wish, with a pop-up with a 'do not ask again' option when it is enabled might be better?
If the default state of the new setting is enabled it would normally be transparent to users, while allowing either mode to be used if a user's needs could change from time to time.

Re: How can I disable the drag and drop feature?
Will that be for all moves? (I see no reason for it not to, but asking just to be sure)
...and will it also apply to (or be an option for confirmation dialogues for) copying? (if not, I'd ask for that to also be included)
