XnView: MP 0.84 x64
OS: Windows 7 - 64 bit
Unsupported file types are selected when cycling through files in a directory but don't show, causing confusion
Effect: When cycling through files, if an incompatible/unsupported file (e.g. PDF) is selected, the file name is shown in the status bar (bottom) while still showing the name of the previously displayed file in the tab (top), which is confusing and makes it look like something isn't working.
To reproduce:
1. Open a supported file with unsupported files in the same directory
2. Cycle through the files in the directory
3. When an unsupported file is selected, the above behavior will be seen
Actual behaviour (bug): The file name in the tab doesn't match the file name in the status bar when an unsupported file is displayed
Expected behaviour: It should just skip over incompatible files, or at least show something along the lines of "This file type is unsupported" and change the file name in the tab to the current (unsupported) file to remove any confusion about what file is selected.

Re: 0.84: Unsupported file types cause confusion
I could reproduce your problem.
The important bit is that you have a PDF file amongst your files. And Ghostscript must not be installed. Then, XnView MP does not skip the PDF file but shows an empty/plain/grey tab with the filename of the PDF file.
So the problem is actually:
XnView MP tries to display PDF files although Ghostscript is not installed.
Reproduced
