Better Thumbnail Quality

Post by Ilikemyprivacy »

I love that XnView can increase the size of the picture thumbnails in a folder but the pictures seem fuzzy and of low quality compared to similar sized thumbnails in Windows 10. I think it has something to do with the message "Size of cached thumbnails is smaller than choosen one. You can change it in Settings>Catalog." but I already have the maximum size for cached thumbnails at 2000MIB and I increased the memory usage for database engine to 8000MIB what more do I need to do?

change Width x Height in Enable thumbnail caching group (Settings > Catalog)

XnViewMP - thumbnails - understanding quality/size

That gets rid of the error message but it doesn't seem to improve the quality of the thumbnails, they still are fuzzy.

Oh, it seems to have worked now. Apparently I needed to restart the program more than once. Thank you for your help.

Actually I was half right. It seems it works sometimes but not all the time. Sometimes the pictures show up in great quality, other times they are pixelated.

Because You have to rebuild the thumbnails in Settings (Folder). There is second place where You set the thumbnails size.

Most thumbnails have been resolved and are of good quality but there are still some that look terrible. They all seem to have symbols in the lower right. Is there a list of symbols somewhere that shows what they mean?
I found this viewtopic.php?t=3344 and one of the symbols is "embedded thumbnail" and the other isn't on this list. It looks like an "E"
