Fullscreen mode: Sometimes photo size isn't adapted to screen size

Even if I specify in the settings for the fullscreen mode that the size of all photos should be adapted to the screen size, this doesn#t happen always, but smaller photos are displayed undesirably small in most cases.

Are you able to post test images, some that open full screen and some that don't, for Pierre?

If privacy is an issue, maybe you could create a minimal set using XnView MP's viewer File > New image... function.

In the meantime I have detected that the photos that aren't enlarged to the screen size in fullscreen mode have been taken with my Nokia N900 mobile phone of that time, while all other photos in this album/folder have been taken with my then-Fuji digital camera (because I had forgotten to insert the battery into the camera on this day).

The resolution of the mobile phone was much lower (1280:960) than that of the Fuji camera (4000:3000).

In the photo properties XnViewMP displays a resolution of 1280x960.

I have further albums taken with my former Canon Powershot A40 camera that had a resolution of 1600x1200. All these photos are too small in fullscreen mode although it would surely be possible to enlarge them to screen size. Why does XnViewMP ignore my explicit specification that they should be adapted to the screen size?

What a pity! Very sad! Apart from that I am very happy with XnViewMP.

change "Auto image size" from "Last used" to desired one (eg "Fit image to window" or "Fit to window, large only") in:
1) Settings>View

In some photo albums I have cropped some photos to a smaller size. Some of these aren't enlarged in fullscreen mode to fill the screen, although I had specified in the fulllscreen settings that this should happen.

your ini file indicates you have default "Last used" option for both normal/fullscreen modes:
defaultFit=-1
defaultFullscreenFit=-1

so, go to Settings and change as adviced, then test.

Another possible problem - no access rights to write ini file in the desired folder.

If I specify "fit to window" for normal and fullscreen mode then this takes effect only in normal mode but not in fullscreen mode.

This setting is persistent within the same xnview session only for normal mode. If I re-open the fullscreen mode settings then the defaut "Last used" is displayed again.

The problem occurs also if everybody has read/write access to xnview.ini and its parent directory.

UPDATE:

I have now downloaded and installed the Linux .deb file from the xnview download page (rather than from the Linux Mint repository). Then name of the program is now "XnView Multi Platform", and it now works!!!!!

And the fullscreen setting is now persistent.

And the mouse pointer is now the system default pointer and no longer that extremely tiny, nearly invisible pointer that I had mentionned in an earlier post.
