Comprehension questions to plugins

Post by herb »

Hello Pierre,

Thanks for the new versions 1.5.4 of XnViewMP and also 7.154 of NConvert.
Great work!

But I have some general questions to plugins released with these new versions:
- *.zip file of 32-bit NConvert does not contain any plugin file
- *.zip file of 64-bit NConvert contains 11 plugins
- *.zip file of 64-bit XnViewMP contains 32 plugins: 5 *.exe and 27 *.dll files

Files available in both *.zip files have an identical date, so they seem to be identical.
But I have not checked yet which plugins will be installed with 64-bit XnViewMP installation file.

I understand that NConvert will not support all file-formats that are supported by XnViewMP:
e.g. as far as I know: *.gpr images are not supported by NConvert; so plugin gpr.dll is not contained in NConvert plugins directory.

And (I hope to remember) *.jp2 images are supported by NConvert - but plugin jp2.dll is only released for XnViewMP
Or: In NConvert formats.txt file we read that exr-images are supported, but (4 exr-dll) plugins are only contained in XnViewMP plugins directory.

Sorry to annoy you, but I am a little bit confused.
Where can I get a better overview?
I hope you can/will help me - Thanks in advance

Best regards
herb

Yes but you can use the plugins from XnView MP 32bits
- *.zip file of 64-bit NConvert contains 11 plugins
- *.zip file of 64-bit XnViewMP contains 32 plugins: 5 *.exe and 27 *.dll files
You can use all plugins, in NConvert package there is only most used formats...
And (I hope to remember) *.jp2 images are supported by NConvert - but plugin jp2.dll is only released for XnViewMP
you have openjp2 in nconvert package
Pierre.
